Flat...such a negative word...

When I hear the word flat, I automatically think of something bad.

1. Flat tyre being the first one (I have never experienced a flat tyre, but if it does happen, I just know it will be a nightmare situation because:
a. I don't know how to change a tyre.
b. I am not a member of a pick-up-fix-your-tyre service.
c. I never have any credit on my phone, so I wouldn't be able to ring anyone, apart from the Guards (emergency calls are free!). Of course, they wouldn't be too impressed me thinks.

2. Flat fizzy drink. I am not a big fizzy drink kind of girl, however, if I do drink this sort of a beverage, I prefer them to be really, really cold. And definitely not flat. That warm, sweet, sickly taste is disgusting.

3. Flat hair. Although I can easily remedy that by doing those rocker-esque hair tosses and mousse, loads of hair mousse.

4. Flat battery. Both in a car and a mobile phone. I wouldn't mind the phone having a flat battery because I never have any credit to text or ring anyone, anyway. I do tend to turn my phone off or leave it on silent sometimes. So, ya flat battery in my phone-whatever! Flat battery in my car-disaster!

My four negative flat connotations are having a bit of a car vibe. Basically, I'd hate it if anything happened to my car. My freedom would be gone. (Sorry, being a bit of a drama queen, but anyone who lives at home in the middle of nowhere, will understand).

There is a massive POSITIVE flat to this story and that is flat shoe. Flat shoes are definitely not negative for me. (As in ballet pumps or whatever name you like to call them). Being a tall girl I like flat shoes. With 5 inch heels on, I turn into a 6 foot 3" giant, so with my flats I feel sort of petite. (Don't get me wrong, I have heels that are 5 inches high, and I wear them with pride, but sometimes I just need to come back down to earth, as opposed to having my head in the clouds). I'm not at all petite in any sense of the word. But there is psychology for you!

My favourite ballet flats at the moment are of the French Sole variety. I don't have a pair yet, but I can feel the time of owning some will be soon! (As soon as I get a job!). Here are a few of the contenders:

Classic Quilt.

I like India, in yellow, purple and bright pink. Colourful feet=Happy feet!

Sturdy Cheetah...two words I never thought would be in the same sentence. But it works! Actually, I'll take all of the Sturdy collection.

Sturdy Black.

I better get a job soon 'cause these are not cheap. But they are worth the price don't you think?

So, are you a flattie or a heelie?

Put a bit of Sparkle in your life...

The one thing that made me happy whilst watching the SATC2 film was the clothes (of course!). Patricia Field is a genius, and they never needed her more to style the girls for this film. I would even go as far by saying that the clothes made up for the not-so-brilliant plot of the movie. But that is just my own opinion! I was in Sequin/ Embellishment heaven.

Therefore, inspired by Patricia Field's amazing styling, I have compiled my own sequin/ embellishment wish list.

My wardrobe is not deprived of some sequins though.

Are sequins/ embellishment a yay or a nay for you?

Rhythm is a Dancer...

Diamonds and Pearls and Rubies

When I was younger, I used to dream out yonder,
of real diamonds and pearls and rubies,
of beautiful Jewellery.
This always made me so, very happy.

Now, I am older,
I am so much more bolder and a little bit wiser.
Jewellery is still my life,
but in order to cause less strife (in my financial life),
real diamonds and pearls and rubies are out of the question.
But, I am still very, very happy.

I thought a poem would be a nice way to start the coming of the weekend, and it is relevant. (Sorry if it is a bit cheesy...I wrote it in five minutes!). I love Jewellery, what's more I love cheap Jewellery. But, If I could afford expensive Jewellery, I would probably buy it. But, nothing beats the high street for up-to-date pieces. I love Topshop for Jewellery, Accessorize (fairly pricey for some of the stuff in there though!), Primark usually has some hidden gems, Oasis, H&M...and so on...you get the idea!

Here is a collection of some of my Jewellery...

All of the pieces above are affordable, but they are of massive sentimental value to me. I love them all!

As for rings? I really don't want to show you my very pathetic collection of rings. I am a fiddler (not of the violin variety), so if I am bored or nervous whenever I wear a ring, I twist it round and round my finger. All. The. Time. I drive myself mad! So, I tend to stay away from rings. However, I wouldn't say no to a diamond ring...haha.

What type of Jewellery do you prefer? Hope ye all have a fantastic weekend!

please give me a New Look!

I had 30 minutes today to run into New Look to get a credit note for a dress, I bought way back in February and then buy something else. My sister was timing me. Its a hard life!! Anyone who has ever been in a New Look store, will know that NL try and fit as many clothes onto the same rail. So, basically it is a rooting store, to try and find the 'hidden gems' amongst the not so hidden gems (sorry, if I am being really incoherent today). Today was my lucky day. I had €19 to spend, which is not a lot, but I found my 'hidden gems'!

My first find was this denim babydoll dress, which was a bargain at €12. And it was the last one in my size. I like!

The back detail is pretty cool with the zip detail.

Its a simple dress, but I plan on styling it up with accessories. Like? Yes/No?

I actually tried on this dress, which has been in loads of magazines as a 'star buy', however there was none in my size. I was going to buy it, but ugh effort of getting it tailored to fit me. God, I am in such a lazy mood today!

I am really excited about my next purchase. These sunglasses are pretty amazing and once again a BARGAIN at €7.

I immediately thought of Rizzo (Stockard Channing) from Grease when I saw these glasses. Don't even ask me why! I love them though and the funny shape compliments my funny face shape (big roundy glasses are hideous on me!). Which is a big yay.

Hoop Earrings were my last purchase and I have to say I AM addicted to hoop earrings. I am blessed (well, blessed is a bit strong) to be able to wear really cheap jewelery and at €1.25, these hoopies fall into the very cheap and cheerful category.

Not Chanel (as you might have guessed, that they were not Chanel), but New Look!

What do you think of my purchases? In all, I spent under €19 because of a fantastic invention called student discount.

In other VERY exciting news...I have just seen SJP's Alexander McQueen dress for the London SATC2 premier...oh my God, I'm actually lost for words. Like wow! She is rocking this amazing dress and Philip Treacy hat (2008 deja-vu anyone?). AMAZING.

In fact all of the SATC ladies looked amazing. What is it about London?!

Way prefer this black dress on Kim Cattrall, than the gold she wore to the NY premier. Love this!

Kristin Davis in vintage Norman Norell. Once again like NY, she is stunning.

Cynthia Nixon in a teal Narcisco Rodriguez dress, which suits her pale skin tone to perfection.

Better than NY, don't you all think?

Right, I am off to flop in front of my TV, to watch something stupid. Wouldn't be able to concentrate on something serious.

my miu miu

Facebook should be banned(well, on second thoughts, it should'nt)...anyways, I say this because nearly everytime I log in, I see posts from people who are saying fairwell to Ireland for the summer. America, the Greek Islands...wherever takes your fancy, people I know are leaving left, right and centre. (Don't really blame them though) And I? I am in Waterford. For the whole Summer. Enough said.

What are your summer plans?

Something which always cheers me up though is my miu miu bag I got for my 21st birthday. Thanks mother & father! Even a sniff of the gorgeous Italian leather makes me happy! Miu Miu puts a smile on my face full stop. It is such a fun label.

Say hello to my shiny, leathery (not so) little friend!

One and a half years later...

Definitely not as shiny. Must do something about that!

Louis Vuitton also makes me happy. Marc Jacobs was out in force last night at the launch of the Louis Vuitton Bond Street Maison in London. Naturally, all stars were head to toe in Louis Vuitton.

Kirsten Dunst has recently returned with a bang on the social scene and she looked gorgeous in this navy and black autumn-winter 2010 dress.

The host of the evening, Alexa Chung & Pixie Geldof (with sort of dodgy hair).

Gwyneth Paltrow knows what suits her and this cruise 2011 dress certainly does.

Daisy Lowe in an autumn-winter 2010 dress.

What do you think of Kirsten & Co in Louis Vuitton?

Going back to my miu miu bag, have you any special bag that you just love and that makes you happy?

New York...concrete jungle where dreams are made of...

Last night the premier of SATC 2 took place in Manhattan, signalling the countdown to the release date of the movie on the 27/28th of May. Unlike the original SATC movie which was premiered in London, this time the girls stuck to their roots by premiering it in the Radio City Music Hall in NY.

But whatever, what you and I are really interested in is the fashion. I loved SJP's lime green Alexander McQueen dress and the gorgeous Philip Treacy hat she wore to the first premier in 2008, so it was always going to be a hard dress to live up to.

SJP wore a citric colour again, this time its a lemon colour and the designer is Valentino. I love the one shouldered detail and the way it flows and the colour, but I still feel her Alexander McQueen frock beats this Valentino one hands down. Don't get me wrong, I would treasure that dress if I had it in my wardrobe, I just think the Alexander McQueen one is so much more edgier, more Carrie-esque.

Kristin Davis always lives out the two c's in her clothes: classic and chic. And this is exactly what her dress is. It is a vintage 1950s Jean Desses Gown from Decades. I adore this look on Kristin even though it is a pretty simple and straight forward dress, and she is channeling her Charlotte character in SATC, in this dress. Like SJP, she wore minimal accessories and with her hair swept back in an on trend up-do, she looks gorgeous. I much prefer this look to her vintage red Guy Laroche couture dress she wore at the World/London premier in 2008.

Kim Cattrall wore a gold column dress by Naeem Kahn and to be honest I'm a bit iffy about this dress. I don't like how low cut it is and whilst Kim Cattrall is a gorgeous looking women...still not liking the dress I'm afraid. But what do you think?

I just loved Cynthia Nixon's Calvin Klein dress she wore back in 2008 and this year she chose Carolina Herrera, but this dress isn't a patch on the Calvin Klein one. Its a basic dress, not much to say about it really.

So, overall not a great fashion fest for the premier of SATC 2. The theme of the night must have been minimalism and all four of the ladies stuck to this theme rigidly. My favourite? Whilst I love the colour of SJP's dress, Kristin Davis was just on form last night. Gorgeous! I don't really know if I am looking forward to actually seeing the film...are you? I just think that the SATC episodes were perfection. Let me know what you think!
