Curly Sue Friday

Straight hair go away.
Come again another day.
But if you don't, I don't care
because I will always have my disco curly hair!

I love big curly hair. I am lucky enough to have naturally frizzy/curly (when it wants to) be hair. However, disco curly hair, it ain't. Disco curly hair? Think Beyoncé, not Psycho Bob.

Lily Cole normally a straight haired gal looks fantastic with her curls and high fashion in Harper's Bazaar Turkey (October). Carolina Engman, the super stylish blogger also shows us how it's done.

On my to-do-list: Youtube disco curly hair. I want! And you?

Stripes-Spots-Florals.

Do you go starry eyed for stripes? A classic print. Always there. For you?

Do you go dotty for polkas? Also a classic. They are sexier than stripes, though. Polka thought from you?

Or do you go ditsy for floral print? Ever wished you were called Daisy, Lily or Daffodil? But unfortunately, your parents had a different idea. 'Sarah'-such a stable name. Just whip the florals out and you instantly feel a bit more creative. For you, too? Oh and, will you be sporting a 'boot-quet' of flowers anytime soon? Ashish (S-S 2012) says it's cool. It must be so.

Fringed Fancies

I always have a million things on my 'I want' list. A knee-high fringed boot is my brand new entry.
I always love a bit of fringe. And you?

  1. Boots on the left from Zara. Well done Zara, you designed my favourite.
  2. Boots on the top right hand-side from Isabel Marant. Three words. One action that would land you in jail. Rob-A-Bank.
  3. Boots on the bottom right hand side from River Island. Beige Zebra boots, as I like to call them.

Scandinavian vs Gallic

I found this interesting page in Vogue UK, October. Handsomely titled as 'Scandinavian Hordes vs Gallic Invaders'. So, I decided to to ask you lovely people, which one describes your style best?

Me? The Gallic Invader. Gallic style just has that 'je ne sais quoi'. My (sometimes) motto when getting dressed is 'think French, act French, then maybe you might be French'. French with an Irish accent. The best kind.

In To The Future & Back Again

Friday, 20th April, 2012

Looking in to the future of SarahD. Fashion writer, living it up in New York. Would give anything for another hour of sleep.

6.30am: Alarm rings. Short snooze.
6.40am: Snoozzzzzzze.
6.55am: S***! Am late.
06.57am: Realise it's Friday. That can only mean 'Dress the way the designers intended you to' day.
07.00am: Must make an effort.
07.05am: Raid the wardrobe. Or is that closet?!
07.09am: I spy Michael, Elie & Phillip.
07.10am: Am I in the mood to look like a Zebra? Or do I want to resemble a pastel Neapolitan ice-cream? I quite like the idea of gold foil, though. Where is that Elie Tahari skirt......
07.15: It's the skirt. Definitely the skirt's time to 'shine' today.
07.40: Dressed. Successful mission. Just one more question:
Is bed-hair still acceptable these days?

Friday, 16th September, 2011

Present moment in time, give or take a couple of hours.

06.35am: Alarm Rings. What is that bloody noise?
06.40am: It can't be time to get up yet.
06.45am: Snooze.
06.55am: Am up. Have to finish new blog post before work.
07.00am: Breakfast first, though.
07.20am: Two thoughts: Thank God it's Friday and yay for style.com and New York Fashion Week.
08.00am: Post completed.
08.05am: Just one more question: What am I really going to wear today?

Keeping Up With Taylor

If there was one wardrobe I'd love to raid, it would be this woman's. Taylor Tomasi-Hill is streets ahead. Even Anna Dello Russo is finding it hard to 'keep up'. Maybe, it's due to the fact that Tomasi-Hill is stomping her way around New York in Ann Demeulemeester boots, whilst ADR is teetering on heels. Who needs heels, when you can have a pair of 'don't mess with me' boots?

Prabal Does Purple

Well hello there, Purple.

Purple: Either a colour you love or hate. Me? I have a purple laptop. Enough said, really.

Imagine my delight when I feasted my eyes on the Prabal Gurung S-S(2012) collection. Purple here, purple there, purple mixed with other colours. Beautiful floral prints.....
.....Pants, fur, skirts, sheer, dresses, leather, shorts, strappy shoes-all different, but running along the same theme: the colour purple. Prabal has put Purple back on the fashion map. Yes to that.

Is Purple & Prabal for you?

Anna So Sweet

What’s next for you, Scorpio? You may be chomping at the bit to move forward, but with your ruler (Mars) in a tough angle to the Moon today, it could be a one leap forward, five steps back kind of day. There’s no sense in getting frustrated and blowing up. Remain calm, lust after the Anna Sui (F-W 2011) collection and you’ll be just fine. (Horoscope from ElleUk.com, edited by me.)

I am quite fond of horoscopes, if you are too, have a look at this & this.

Dress-Room-Shop

Win-dow-shop: To look at merchandise in store windows or showcases without making purchases. (The official definition, according to the free dictionary.)
Dress-room-shop: To try on merchandise, pose for the camera (optional), purchase if like. (The official definition, according to me.)

I was in the mood for dress-room-shop yesterday, as opposed to win-dow-shop. The store of choice? A-wear. What can I say? I can't wait to be a furry monster this year. Layers and layers of material in the faux-fur variety. I will be a fur version of the Michelin man. Can't wait!

And, just say if I ever got tired of the fur Michelin man look, I also dress-room-shopped this horse print (again with the animals) shirt and mega palazzo trousers.

Dress-room-shop (also, seen here & here how fun you are! Are you a fan? Oh and yay or nay to my Michelin man look? All clothes via awear.com
